SROs

School Resource Officers (SRO) are sworn Law Enforcement Officers responsible for the safety and crime prevention within our schools. SRO’s are employed by the Sequatchie County Sheriff’s Office and work closely with administrators in efforts to create a safer environment for both students and faculty. School administrators benefit from the extensive training, knowledge and experience the SRO’s have in situations involving possible weapons violations, identifying dangerous controlled substances, and identifying and deterring trespassers on campus.

The responsibilities of School Resource Officers making arrests, responding to calls, and document incidents. However, SRO’s typically have additional duties, including mentoring, conducting presentations on current youth-related issues, traffic control and provide additional support/services for school events that are home or away.

In addition, the officer works in collaboration with schools and the community as a resource for safety and security issues.
